laptop usb power output

I have a Toshiba Equium A100 notebook. Can anyone tell me if the USB power output is sufficient to run an external DVD writer which has no mains DC supply?

As long as it's USB 2.0, then it will very likely work fine.

That should work, alough most DVD external drive have AC. Burning might be a problem.
