Re: Laptop suggestions. For work, not gaming.
Just about any laptop will do the job.
Just avoid the followings
1. Celeron CPUs. They are slow. Even for day to day tasks.
2. Avoid the consumer range laptop. These are your
HP Compaq Presario or Previllion
Toshiba Qosmio or Satellites series (Not the Satellite Pro, they are still go in my eyes. Tecra if you can afford it.)
Lenovo Thinkpad S Series
Any thing Sony
Problem with these laptop is that they are built rather cheaply, and they normally last as long as the warranty period before dying.
The other problem is that they are looked after the consumer section for warranty and support. This also includes things like driver support. A retail model these days will only have Vista Driver Support. Corporate laptops might come with Windows Vista, however there is still Windows XP Support. If you look around you might even get a laptop that comes with both legit Windows Xp and Vista Upgrades recovery media.
