Did you install the chipset drivers? Exactly what keys aren't working? Did you try an external keyboard?

well no chipset drivers were installed as the same keys did not work, so i didnt think that was a problem...

Yes i have tried a USB keyboard and that works fine.

Off the top of my head the following keys are not working:

1,3,q,e,a,d,c

so of the special keys like shift, ctrl not sure but that are the main ones

any ideas?

chipset drivers should include your keyboard driver. As to if it will work, I don't know. It might be a problem with the cable itself.

The connector on the motherboard could be damaged, that cable connects into the top of the MB - make sure that is secure. If it is and you're positive this keyboard is good then the MB could be the issue.

boot into a live environment.
if the same keys still don't work, it's a hardware issue.
