Yes that's what I mean. Notebooks newer than 2 years don't continue using a charged battery while plugged in. Once the battery is charged to full capacity it will stop charging it and use the outlet power to run the computer. Only when unplugged will it use the battery again.

Batteries do degrade after awhile. It won't charge to its full potential.

I'm still a tad iffy on touching my battery, seeing as I get a decent six hours with it.

Also, depending on what type of li-ion laptop battery it is, they may still self-discharge, but at still a less percentage than nickel-based(like 10%l i-ion to 30% nickel). If it's a dumb li-ion then it does not self-discharge, but can have a permanent loss in capacity over time. On the other hand, smart lithium-ion batteries do self-discharge, due to the drain of the built-in voltage monitoring circuit.

indeed, i can get one (i did, got a spare one) for 6 bucks :-D

it may not say DELL or HP but it works just the same haha.. its actually longer than the original and comes with that strange leather strap.
