Something under $700 USD, 12-14" screen, at least a Pentium Dual Core, no budget atom, any amount of ram is fine as i will just upgrade it, proper harddrisk (120GB is plenty).

The VR420 are under $500 a lot of places, those are pretty nice for the money and I'll bet you can get them for a good price where you are (sorry, I know diddly about buying in AU).
