inspiron 1525 sim card slot

i have an inspiron 1525 running vista, i just realised that there is a sim card slot under the battery, is there a way to connect with the sim card to the internet or even make phone calls from the laptop

if yes do i need a special software?which one?

I never used them, but it looks like it would be provided by your ISP. There should be a CD that comes with it, with drivers.
