I have an IBM thinkpad t42 and it will not boot, I tried f8 to get safe mode to display with no luck, tried remove battery. , I always get the the same screen with just a blinking cursor in the top left screen and I do not get passed that, any ideas?

Hi,

This may indicate a hard drive failure.

Firstly, have you ensured that the hard drive is set as the primary boot device in the BIOS settings (or by pressing F12 and choosing selecting the hard drive)?

Also, are you able to boot into a CD (such as a Windows setup disc or bootable linux)?
