Default **** I dropped my laptop!

lol... Okay here's the laptop I have. It was expensive and it's very nice.
HP Pavilion dv5t - $1098.99

I dropped it last night because I feel asleep with it on my bed. It was open and landed front side down. So it pushed the screen completely open so now the screen swings freely. I can hear the audio but the screen is dead. I don't even know where to begin with this. There's two wires heading into the laptop on both sides. Both of them are hooked in. However that's all that's holding the laptop together. This was a really nice BrightView Infinity Display too... First real drop too....

Anyways does anyone know where I should even start with this? Somehow I have to replace the screen or fix something. I don't get why the screen is off though if the wires appear to still be plugged in?? Thanks for anything guys!

Here's 2 images.

This is why you shouldn't watch p0rn in bed. Hard to tell by the photos they are out of focus but are there any broken wires? Is it covered by warranty?

Well the first thing I would do is see if you can get it replaced or fixed by whoever you bought it from. Did you get a warranty?

Yeah I took the photos with my camera phone. I'm not sure if it's warrantied. I bought it off the HP website. So it has whatever warranty HP offers. Do you think it'd cover this?

Cracking the screen aswell would help the warranty then you can create a more elaborate story.

Usually repairing screens costs more than buying a new laptop.

See if it is covered under warranty. If not.... well... that sucks.

flebay has screens for them.. 70-150 bucks
Does it work with exxternal?

It could also be broken light bulb.. Try and if you can see th screen at all, like when windows boots up.

I would talk to HP and have them fix it if it's under warranty, myself... I'm assuming you still have al the paperwork?

Okay the laptop works perfectly normal on my TV. So it deffinantly is the screen. Hey saltynay how so? Why would cracking it do better?

And patonb do those come with the entire top half?

I think my best bet is to try to get it warrantied. I don't have much info as all they sent me was a box with the laptop and a few instructions. It shipped directly from China. It was customized through HP's site.

Well atm your story is it fell off the bed whilst you were sleeping personally as a company I wouldn't spend $100+labour on your incompetence no offence. If the screen is cracked then a more worthy story could be embellished if thats the way you want to go just a thought.
