Our hospital just bought the local ambulance service and all equipment including PC's/laptops. They have an HP Probook 4520s which will need to be wiped and our Windows image installed. I do the obvious and pop in the CD, but it kicks out a hardware error. I've run drive diagnostics and memtest, but they come up clean. Tried a different CD, same result. Our corporate guys don't have a ghost image for that model. All they have is for an Elitebook 8440. I don't ever get far during the install process. Never get to format. My questions are:
1. What would happen if I ghosted with the 8440 image? Not boot? Boot but need some tweaking/drivers? Burn in a fire and smoke catastrophe?

2. If I can't ghost, how do I get this thing going? Killdisk first then try and format/reinstall?

Problem solved. I changed the BIOS setting for the hard drive to IDE instead of SATA and it let me cruise right through.
