Hooking up laptop hdd to a desktop

Easy to connect, booted my laptop's copy of Ubuntu without any issue (Vista, since it's tied to system info, wouldn't boot). I decided to try it in my desktop before wiping it and returning it to HP.

EDIT:

Man, it takes forever to wipe a hard drive with all 0's! And yes, that is a 1999 Compaq Presario case, the original board fried so I reused the case for a cheap build.

very odd! i tried shoving my sata connector in and it didnt seem to wanna work, maybe i was doing it wrong?!? but either way i solved the problem.. i got my brothers laptop to work which is able to house 2 hdd's so i just plugged it in there saved it onto his hdd and then swapped hdd's again and transfered

but thanks for the pic.. i'll give it a shot sometime soon
