Ah right so a netbook would run msn/yahoo/mIRC/and around 3-4 windows of firefox at the same time?

i used to think the atom cpus @ 1.6GHz where crap guess i was wrong

I think that's pretty much what they are designed to run...hitting the market of people who don't need something that does more than that. IMO.

Have you actually seen and tried out netbooks? They're significantly smaller than regular laptops. The smaller screens and keyboards often disappoint people. The RAM in most netbooks can be upgraded to a maximum of 2GB, but the ease of upgrading varies greatly from one netbook to another. Netbooks aren't built for speed. A bump from 1GB to 2GB or ram will not yield a major performance increase. They're designed for simple tasks.
