Hello,

What happens when you remove the hard drive, and boot up?

darn you Alvin!! stop thinking. LOL. I didn't think about that. I was making an assumption. There goes my technical knowledge out the door. I remember that when the HD was out it came up with an IDE error.

Alright.

So you can access the BIOS settings with the hard drive removed, and the BIOS doesn't freeze?

Usually a system will boot up fine without a hard drive attached, but a 'no boot device' or 'ide error' will occur as no boot device is found, after POST.

Yes, when I was putting the laptop back together. After reading on a techsite to disconnect then reconnect all the connections. I had it still apart and the HD was sitting behind the laptop. It came up with a 'ide error'.
