Few questions, 1500 budget

I think I want to go with a cheaper laptop, and I really like the idea of putting Linux on the laptop. I haven't played with Linux in a good few years. So would one of those Eee PC laptops be good enough for even compiling and running programs in Java//C++//the like? Also can they have decent storage? The really lowest end laptops I saw on new egg were like just a few gigs.

I'll hold off on the PC stuff for making a thread on another section, but the only questions I'm going to ask here is if it is still cheaper to build your own? I already have a nice monitor, cd/dvd rom, and enough disk storage as well.

well the Eee pc, you can have an external if you need the extra space. and you can run linux on it if you want. It normally comes with xp, so it should be fine.

as for power, i say check out the specs... hmm let me find them

check those out. of course there are other options, but I like the tinyness of it. And running linux, and just programming stuff, you have to tell us if it is powerful enough
