External CD/DVD Writer/ Rewriter Help

Hi All, Newbie Here, need some help!

im wanting to purchase a external cd/dvd writer to put music/films onto blank discs, however i dont know which one to purchase.

my laptop system specs are:
- Advent 9617
- Intel Core Duo T2330 (1.6GHz)
- Memory - 2.00GB RAM, 120GB Hard Drive
- CD Drive - TSSTCorp DVD RW
- Video Card - Intel GM965

Actually, it does not matter what you get. Most of them are USB. They have a power cord as well. I have a slim I/O Magic DVD burner that I got 5 years ago, still works great on anything.

thanks alot ! so i can purchase any external usb cd/dvd writer?

and just one more thing... what disks do i buy to put mp3/wmv files onto & what disks to i buy to put avi/divx files onto.
