I've got an old Averatec 3250HX laptop (XP.) Two yrs ago, the computer lost some drivers and Averatec tech support told me to reload the recovery CDs. I did that and the computer took 5% of disc 1 (of 3) and froze up with a "FAIL" message.
I tried it again several times today and it does the same thing. I forget what I did different one time but it gave me an "INTEGRITY FAIL" message. No matter what, it won't go past 5% loading of disc 1. I've cleaned the disc thoroughly and there are no scratches on it.
Do you think that I should buy another set of discs ($25 with shipping) or do you think that there is something wrong with the computer itself?
This used to be a nice little, light laptop perfect for traveling. Not to mention the fact that it is Windows XP!
