Default dell xps m1330 ram upgrade worth it?

hey just looking for a bit of advice here!

Ive got a m1330 on the way with 2gig of ram installed, 4gig from dell was really over priced!

I can get 4gig for arround 60quid on amazon, what im wondering is, is it worth it? Ill sell the old 2gig on ebay after to make sum back!

I believe vista 32bit will only allow me to utilize 3gig? Is that right? Will xp pro allow me to use 4gig?

So is it worth the money to have 4gig guys? will there be a noticable performance boost?

You are correct that Vista 32bit will only let you use about 3.5 gigs of ram. XP pro will not let you use any more ram than Vista because XP Pro is still 32 bit. To use more than 3.5 gigs of ram you need a 64 bit operating system.

to answer your question, YES! there will definitely be a performance boost, if I were you I would make dell ship my lappy with 512 mb if they can. then upgrade to 4gb, of else i know they can downgrade it to 1gb for -$125 or so.
