Wow kind of expensive for what it is I think any way.

Processor: Intel® Core™ i7 (4M Cache, up to 3.0 GHz)

Operating System: Ubuntu 12.04

Screen: 13.3″ HD 720p

Ram: 8GB2 DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz

Hard Drive: 256GB Solid State Drive

Video Card: Intel HD 4000

Weight: 2.99 lbs

The XPS 13 Developer Edition comes with Ubuntu 12.04 pre-installed, and starts at $1,549

.... The only thing that it has going for it is the i7 and the 256gb ssd.. and come on, for 1600 I expect a higher res screen, at least 1600x900. Also I feel like the i7 is kind of counter intuitive for an ultrabook. I think you'd be able to get all the power you'd need and better battery life out of an i5, but I'm not the engineer so I'm not sure.

and 8gb of ram for ubuntu... are you drunk?

Too much power for ubuntu...
I am now wondering how it works on enterprise environment.

For $1600 you can get a laptop that kicks major ass, is a few inches thicker than an ultrabook, and is a better deal for your money.
Ubuntu also doesn't support turbo boost so you'd have a lot of potential processor power that would never get used.

I agree that an I5 would be suffice. I think that 1600 is a little pricey for this. Love the fact ubuntu is coming in ultrabooks now, but it's kind of overkill
