I have been tasked with helping a friend of mine out by fixing her laptop. Problem is, I'm not sure really where to start.
The laptop is a Dell Inspiron N5040, the problem is that it will not power on or charge. I have tested the charger and it is putting out the correct voltage (19.5V) but when you plug it in to the computer the little green light on the charger goes off and if you unplug the charger from the laptop and then check the voltage again you get less than .5V. Also while it is plugged in to the laptop the charging light does not light up. I have tried with another working charger and it has the exact same problem.
I'm really not sure where to go from here, so if anyone could help point me in the right direction on what to check it would be awesome.

EDIT: After a little more research I think the power jack on the laptop may be shorted somewhere, is there a way for me to test this?
