Dell 640m CPU upgrade? T2250 to which CPU?

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for upgrade possibilities for my Dell Inspiron 640m laptop. Currently, it has an Intel T2250 CPU at 1.73ghz. At first, I thought about upgrading to a T7600, until I realized that the T7600 is a Core 2 Duo, not a Core Duo.

So, what are my possibilities here? I thought that I would move up to the T2700, which seems to be the fastest Core Duo available. Can I simply just swap the T2250 for the T2700?

What about the Core 2 Duo? Would it theoretically possible to replace the Core Duo with a Core 2 Duo? Just curious here. It seems like I can get a T2700 on ebay for about $100.

Thanks for the reply. I had seen that page too, but that 640 seems different than mine. Mine has Core Duo (T2250), those ones have Core 2 Duo (T7400). It must be an updated 640m? I guess I'm still confused. I suppose I could try to find out the chipset and get a cpu based on which chipset I have?

that would help, check the revision of your board, using CPU-z, that might help.
