Default Dead Hdd

I have a laptop with a dead HDD and im purchasing a new one.....
what i would like to know is once i slap the new one in what is my next step
i have windows XP on cd....just pop that cd in and install xp and thats it?

or is there more to it?

No just pop in ur disc n follow the on screen prompts and then install drivers and programs n your set !
