Hi All,

I have a Toshiba Satellite series laptop.I dropped my Laptop a week ago. It worked fine after dropping, but the next day when I re-started it I got the Blue Screen Error saying Unmountable_boot_volume. I did some research and called tech support only to find out that my Hard Disk is busted.

So I ordered a new Hard Disk online which I changed myself. Now I also ordered an 2.5" HDD Enclosure for the old one so I could connect it as a USB and recover data, but the HDD had other plans in mind. Once I connect my old HDD it says, I/O error. So I finally had to take it to a repair shop which wasn't much help, because they said its an electrical error!!!

Is there any way I can recover data? Since there is an electrical error is it going to cost a lot to recover everything? Please HELP!!!!

Because I leave my laptop running all the time, I always expect the worse to happen. I keep my C: drive imaged and my other partitions backed up to external USB 2.5" HD enclosures.

Get another drive to fit into the new enclosure you have and get you a copy of Acronis True Image and use it as often as you need to.

If your data is that important take it to a data recovery specialist. They may charge over $2000 to get your lost data back. Acronis cost less than $50.

I had a laptop drive go bad once. I sealed in a plastic bag and put into the freezer for a few hours. With luck it fired right up in an external enclosure. I backed up as much as I could before it crapped out. At times I had to hold the drive at a certain angle to keep it going. I had to repeat this procedure several times to get everything.
