Hi,
I've got an acer (emachines) laptop that stopped powering on recently. Their tech support asked me to send it in but told me to first create a backup of the hard-drive. Based on their troubleshooting, they also said they don't believe it's the battery. I bought an IDE/SATA adapter to help me do this but when I plugged the hard drive in, it showed that the file system was RAW.
1) Could this have happened because of the power issue?
2) Is there a fairly straightforward way of converting/accessing the files?
I'm not particularly technically proficient however, if possible, I would prefer to do this myself rather than taking it to a specialist because I have a lot of confidential info on this drive.
Thanks.
