Compaq r3000 display not working

hey people. Ive been having display issues, but I think that it may be more than I thought. The thing turns on, nothing on the display, through vga or s-vid. multiple monitors either.

Tried the wifi button and mute button but they wont light up. SO it doesnt seem to be fully starting up.

it does the same thing with and without the HDD installed if that helps.

This would be related to the motherboard then, it has probably gone bad one way or the other. I would suspect video as the culprit but since none of the other buttons seem responsive it must be the mobo itself. Does this happen all the time or only when you're doing a certain thing, etc.?
