Can't enable wifi

OK, so I've got several old Dell e6400 Latitude laptops, all running Windows 7 on an enterprise network, and I cannot get the wifi enabled on them.

Everything is turned on in the BIOS, and I can see the Dell wireless 1397 WLAN mini card network adapter in device manager. I have updated the driver, so that looks good.

When I go into the Network and Sharing Center, I see that the wireless adapter is disabled. So I click "enable" and nothing happens.

These don't have much longer of a life expectancy, but at this point I can't figure out what is going wrong. I suppose it is possible that the wireless adapters are just broken, but it seems weird that I'm getting the same problem on multiple machines. They are super old, but we're stuck with them for a bit longer so I would love to be able to get these up and fully functional.

Any ideas?

So safe mode, apparently. Uninstalled the drive in safe mode, restarted, driver auto-installed, good to go.

Should have thought of that earlier...
