Cant boot and no internal drive

I am trying to start an old Fujitsu Seimens laptop with XP on it. When I power on you hear the disk start up, or maybe its the fan, but t fails to boot and the screen remains black.

I can't f key into dos or get a dos prompt even. The laptops internal disk drive is missing so I cant reload xp or a start up disk. External disk drive and floppy drive are not recognised, presumably I would need to change the boot sequence for that but I can't get access to do so. Catch 22.

Anyone any ideas???

Could be the cmos battery maybe...

The battery that remembers whats in the bios..... pita to replace in a laptop.
