Default Buying Laptop, $1000 budget

My mom is wanting a new laptop, and has me looking for her. I don't really know all that much about it, so I figured I would ask you guys. All she is going to be doing on it is internet, e-mail, and ebay. She might also do a little photo editing and a tiny bit of gaming. She is wanting to spend about $1000 on it, although she is willing to go a bit over if needed. Any good laptops in that price range?

If that is all she needs it for than you can find a perfectly good laptop for around 500-600. Get a dell, or if you rather pick one up at the store, maybe an HP or Asus.

Yes indeed that asus is a good choice, and I think you can have a look at the HP Pavilion dv2700t special edition series, they are now on sale.

Dell produce some great laptops, you don't need to spend loads of cash to get a laptop that she would be happy with using.
