Sure there are. If you are just wanting to run WoW you have a decent amount of options at your disposal, especially for an 800 dollar price range. Below are a few that I would recommend:

Newegg.com - Acer Extensa EX5620-6030 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T7500(2.20GHz) 15.4" Wide XGA 3GB Memory DDR2 667 160GB HDD DVD Super Multi Intel GMA X3100 - Laptops / Notebooks
Newegg.com - Acer Aspire AS6930-6154 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T5800(2.00GHz) 16" Wide XGA 4GB Memory 320GB HDD DVD Super Multi Intel GMA 4500MHD - Laptops / Notebooks
Newegg.com - HP 530(FH554AT#ABA) NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T5200(1.60GHz) 15.4" Wide XGA 2GB Memory DDR2 667 160GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi Intel GMA950 - Laptops / Notebooks

I'm sure a more gaming-geared user will point you in a better direction.

Then call your lawyer, b/c the guy lied to you. You can upgrade laptop memory. Not video memory (as that is shared w/ the system), but RAM you can upgrade. I have a compaq from 1999 that i upgraded to 512 K ram a little while ago. So i know even old laptops allow RAM upgrades.

But honestly it wouldn't do you much good. An old computer like that will run WoW choppy no matter what.

Yeah, why the hate on Acers? I have 35 of them powering away in my lab at the university. They are great! Maybe their older computers or certain models aren't as high quality, but the Extensa series is very good.

Anyone can get lucky with a computer and have it live for 10 years.

I've seen more Acer's come back for repair than any other brand, that's all.
