Default Best Laptop sub 500?

For college, Microsoft Office, email, wireless internet, Hulu, pictures, music, an SD Card slot. No gaming (desktop for that). Not too much intensive applications.

Its fine if it's a little over 500 because I get an education discount. I just want it to meet the specifications and get the best deal.

Most important is that it is very portable and fairly light. 12 inches is preferable and ideal (not a Netbook). It's also very important that it has an excellent battery life

Ive looked at Dell Inspirons
Inspiron 14
Thin, Light, Portable! Featuring a 14¨ Hi-def display!
Intel® Pentium™ Dual Core T4200 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/1MB cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic Edition SP1
14.0” High Definition (720p) LED Display with TrueLife™
8X CD / DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive)
2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 800MHz
160GB2 SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
High Definition Audio 2.0
Dell Wireless 1397 802.11g Half Mini-Card
37 Whr Lithium Ion Battery (4 cell)
Intel® Pentium™ Dual Core T4200 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/1MB cache)
1Yr Ltd Warranty3 and Mail-In Service

Price is 489.55 with tax, shipping, and Handling.

14inches may actually be too big.
Can something beat this?

And 2GB is fine, provided it lets me upgrade to 4GB myself if needed.

thanks
