Battery Problem

Hi!

I got a second hand laptop, but it seems like the battery will never charge past 76 percent and when laptop is unplugged the battery can deplete in as little as 15 minutes to ground zero.

What is this indicative of? The power supply is not manufactured by the company the guy says but it seems to charge the battery.

Battery is dieing. All batteries have a shelf life, and towards the end of it they don't retain charge as long (eventually not holding charge at all) and don't recharge to 100%.
