Default Any good ?

Might pick one up for University using my Student Loan (lol).

Lenovo B570 15.6 inch Notebook (Core i3-2310M, RAM 4GB, HDD 500GB, DVDRW, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit) - Black: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

I really have little idea about laptops. All i know is apparently Lenovo are the dogs bollocks. And 4GB RAM/ i3 Sandy Bridge can't be a bad thing for the price, 400 is my budget.

What ya'll think?

What are you doing in Uni? Lenovo is a good strong brand. No matter, it is an excellent choice. Not the best for compiling, but overall a nice laptop.

Should play most games at medium-high at best.

I'd pick up an SSD for it. Here you can claim nearly the whole cost back on tax if you're a student, and tbh it'll make one **** of a difference. Even if that hdd installed is 7200 over 5400, I'd do it.

I've no idea about laptops. Do they have more than one 2.5" storage slot ? I need the 500GB of Storage.

And i'm doing a HND in Computing, specialising in Programming and Games Development in my second year. And then doing an extra 3rd year to turn it into a BSc Honors degree. Then maybe a MSc in Games Programming after that (Though thats 3+ years away, i'd hope to have a new laptop by then)

Usually, no. If you need space, get an IcyDock external chassis, put your 500GB in there.

Newegg.com - ICY DOCK MB668US-1SB Aluminum body w/ partial plastic 2.5" Black USB2.0 & eSATA External Enclosure with One-Touch Backup (OTB) Function

I use that one, have my 250GB in there. Never had a problem.

Some laptops have dual hdd slots, most don't though. I do what MoM does as well, keep your data/stuff on an external drive and keep the SSD for the OS and programs. 64Gb should do you fine tbh

I run a 60GB SSD, keep all my programs but the very very small on my secondary. I currently have 28.96GB free of 59.62GB.
