Default Advice on laptop for college

I'm going to college in the fall for a 3 yr IT program and i need a new laptop.

The program requires a laptop with dual core, 2gb memory expandable to 4gb.

would like to keep it under $1300 CAN.

most likely be ordering from newegg.ca or tigerdirect.ca

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16834220696

Was one i was considering. I don't like the temps people have been reporting. 80C+ under load (I know this isn't abnormal for the i7). I would like to have this thing last me through school at least.

Looks like a pretty decent laptop.
What IT program are you taking? I mean, my single core AMD Sempron 3000+ w/512MB RAM, 128MB ATI 200m Express gfx lasted my 3 years of college no problem (no gaming). All depends on what type of computer course you're going into.

As well check out NCIX.com - Canada's Premier Computer Store - Great Technology, Service and Selection. they have good prices too, located in B.C.

The first year is a bit of everything

OS/Networking/hardware/Programming

Then years two/three you branch out into whatever specific field you want.

Every year the college releases the recommended specs for the year.
