acer aspire 5536 no boot from cd/dvd

I have wiped the drive on the above laptop using dban's autonuke with the intention of installing windows7. I am having problems installing win7 I am not getting press any key to boot from cd/dvd. I was wondering if I could put the hard drive in another laptop and install it from there would it work on returning it to the original laptop?

I did put the hd in another laptop and installed win7 then returned it to the original laptop and it worked I was lucky, but we all need some luck sometimes.
