Acer Aspire 4520 series Z03 screen trouble

I have this Acer Aspire 4520 series Z03, Its not new, the warranty is no good anymore. It will turn on but nothing comes up on the screen, it wont even show post. I'm not sure what to do, I could buy an new screen to put in it, I'm confident I could install the screen just fine. But what if its not the screen itself, but instead the motherboard. Advice on the matter would be appreciated.

Hook up an extrenal monitor to see if it is a hardware issue or monitor issue.

I tried that, did nothing. I don't think that the port for external monitors is turned on in the bios. I even tried the s video port and that didn't work either, I think for the same reason.
