@Druid - they look like something she would be happy with, and the $999 is definitely worth the extra money with a faster cpu, bigger HDD, more ram, bigger screen, and better res..... also I agree with the size issue... I wouldn't want a laptop bigger than the 14" ibook that I use now, just seems silly to me to get a laptop that big, but its what she wants.

@orihs yea, I would still feel more comfortable recommending an asus to her. I have had my share of problems with gateway and I just wouldn't want to tell someone to get one. They may be a better company now and they may not be, but I have pretty much written them off. Also, with her lack of computer knowledge but with what she "knows" (or what she thinks she knows anyway) if i show her either of those ASUS's that druid suggested she will go googly eyed, and will probably experience a great deal of the placebo effect.
