What was the first computer you have ever owned? How much was it? I think it would be interesting to see how our members got started in the field of computing.
 
original Macintosh

128kb memory (used as hard drive and RAM)
7.86MHZ CPU
black and white 8" screen

then I had a Tandy 1000RL
it had Windows V2 I think
and an Intel 80** CPU (not sure which one exactly)

then after a while I gota Gateway system with:
Pentium 3 500MHZ (slot 1)
Nvidia TNT2
128MB PC100 SDRAM
12.7GB hard drive (died)

on that system is where I started to take off with my knowledge of computers

and now I have this system, which I built:
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
Asus Geforce 6200 256MB (not turbocache)
2x512MB PC3200 DDR
MSI KM4M
 
Family's first PC

Intel Pentium 1?
33 Mhz
350-500 MB HD
2 Floppy Drives
Sound Card

Cost: $2000 including AAmazing monitor

My First PC

AMD K5 or K6
133 Mhz
850 MB HD
Floppy
8X Toshiba CD-ROM
Sound card, Integrated 1MB video, modem/ethernet

Cost: Got it from friends for free...
5.25" floppy's was where it was at, back in the day..:cool:

MY first computer:
Cost: Cousin's business upgraded, & tossed old PC's, so FREE
P133 (with an evergreen upgrade to 200MHz)
72 MB RAM
8 Gig HDD
generic optical drive
(believe it or not, this rig ACTUALLY RAN DIABLO 2!!)

I collect PC's from anyone I know that is pitching one... in all, I have 7

ALL of these are COMPLETE, and SHOULD run, just haven't had the time lately to test them out.

PC Speaker (Doom was cool with all the beeps and blips)
No CD!!! No Modem!!! Ahh!!! :)
 
i grew up with a 66mhz 486 with 16mb ram and a 350mb hdd and a 420mb hdd, i still have it to, its sitting beside a trs-80 lol, my freinds and i run a computer museum, i you have any appleII's, IBM pc's, atari's or anything else tell me! it will get a good and caring home.
