Wink You guyz didn't get it so I started a new thread ;)

I was looking at these 2:

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...130-202&depa=0

Chipset/Core Speed: nVIDIA GeForce 6800/325MHz
Memory/Effective Speed: 128MB DDR/700MHz
BUS: AGP 4X/8X

AND---

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...150-080&depa=0

Chipset/Core Speed: nVIDIA GeForce 6600GT/500MHz
Memory/Effective Speed: 128MB GDDR3/1000MHz
BUS: AGP 8X

----------

You guyz kept saying the 6600 is h*!! of good and now you dudes are ditching it.

The 6600GT has 8 pipez, but runs on GDDR3 and 500/1000MHZ speed. While the 6800 non GT runz at 325/700 but has 12 pipez.
SO MAKE UR CHOICE!!!

Man, there are so many threads about this exact subject right now, comparing these exact two cards. Maybe one of the mods should merge them? I will say what I've said in all the other threads on this subject...get the 6600GT, the 6800 128MB is badly crippled...you'd be better off with an X800 Pro. Plus, I dont like the thought of it only having 128MB of RAM.

Well, if you can get the 256MB version with DDR3 like ohGrFreak did, then the 6800 would be the better choice. But I would stay away from the 128MB version.

It's true. the 6600 gt is as the same or better then the 6800 128. Why don't you just save 100 buck and get the equally or more better 6600 gt??? It's the best bang for the buck. unless you get the 6800 gt and soft mod it to the 6800 ultra.

hmm, you don't think the 128 6800 would still outperform the 6600GT? i mean sure the numbers look better on paper, but how does it perform in the real world? are there any comparisons i can see or something? i know what a regualr 6800 is capable of, and i'm sure even if it does have the slower ddr, those extra pipes and better technology make up for it. but yeah, we need to find some facts to state this.

even the regular 6800s can be softmodded, i know, mine was running at Ultra speeds with those extra couple pipes unlocked for the longest time, for even less money than it takes to get a GT.

Like I said, if you are going to get a 6800 NU, get the 256MB OC DDR3 edition that ohGrFreak has. It is much more future proof than the 128MB edition. I really dont think 128MB will be enough for this years games if you want to max then out.
