Ive narrowed my laptop search down to two:

Averatec 6130h1-10
P4-3.0Ghz/HT
40Gb Hdd
Mobility Radeon 9600(64Mb)
512Mb Ram

Or

Dell 1501
Turion 64 mk-36
60Gb Hdd
Xpress 1150 256Mb Hypermemory
1Gb Ram

I will be using it for gaming(C&C Generals, Halo, Half Life 2) I do not need to run on highest graphics.

What one would be best for my use.

I agree. Get the Dell Inspiron 1501, not the Averatec 6130h1-10.

Main reason? The Averatec laptop has a desktop processor in it, not a mobile processor - Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz. The processor has not power saving technologies such as SpeedStep, and consumes a lot of power. This means extremely poor battery life and a hot and noisy laptop. It's more of a desktop replacement laptop, designed for carrying it around and being used when connected to a power outlet.

Im want to bring up the point, that the Xpress 1150 doesnt have 256Mb on board; it has anyware from 16-128Mb.(I am not sure how much it has.)

My mistake. So then with 256mb of shared video memory, you would have 768mb of RAM, which, even being shared with the video card, is still more than the other laptop has.

Yar though for most applications including many games, going more than 128mb of shared is pointless with an onboard card ; ;
