xp2600 - 2700

i got a xp 2600. but have o/c and now is registring as a 2700 in my bios. i have it runnin at 2259 accordin to MBM5. was just wondering if its now better than a P4 2.8 just thats what my mates got and i really want a better comp than him.

also will a difference of 768ddr266 vs 512ddr400 be noticeable 266 on p4 2.53 and 400 on 2700 as above.

if so all need if new graphics card and best around

Well, it depends on the program your running as far as who is faster. If he has the Canterwood P4, he's probably still faster in most things, including games. Yes, the 400 Mhz memory is good, anything over 512 is really not necessary right now, it doesn't help too much to have more than that. (I'm sure I'll catch some flames for that, everyone seems to think 2 GB of RAM helps somehow...) Just get a nice 9800 Pro or XT and you will guaranty you're system's faster.

he either has a 2.8B or 2.8C, either way he is still running faster than your processor with his stock settings. you should be able to overclock more and get an equivalent 2.8B.
