Question XP Freezing During Boot Up. WTF is MUP.SYS

Customer's computer in for a repair.

Keeps on freezing all time. Mostly sortly after getting into Windows.

Under command SAFE MODE, we found that computer freezes on at /drivers/mup.sys

What is Mup.sys related to?

Please do not post the same question across the forums. Threads Merged...Thanks.====MicroBell

MUP stands for "Multiple UNC Provider" which assists Windows in locating resources when more than one redirector is on a machine such as "Microsoft Client for Microsoft Networks" and the "Novell Client for Novell Netware".

To fix you need to repair your installation, by inserting the OS CD and once it boots, choose repair. You can also boot into the Recovery Console and type "disable mup.sys"

Still search google though. This is actually pretty common... unfortunatly.
