does he need to have one with a x display, im sure you could like get a floppy distro and install xfree86 and other dependancies and then install blackbox or something like that, or try grey cat linux it works on a fat partition but when it boots it doesnt go straight into the x display you need to type startx or whatever it is to start X display, i think it was being stopped so i donnt know if it still exists, give it a look,

dont know if youve looked at it yet but here is the spec, over all it is 12meg runs on any fat partition (or from dos) is built on UMSDOS (whatever that is) basiclinux and slackware, it has Xfree, Icewm, Netscape, XV, and more,

you can get a copy of one of the many linux distros from www.linuxiso.org
