Personally, no. You have 500$ on your lap? The X800 pro is good enough. I would upgrade my processor if i were you. You can get a 3800 with that money, and have some left over. The 3800 is slightly under 400$ now.

Big difference between the xt pe and pro so you would see a good improvement. Then again the x850 is better than that and almost the same price but that would require a new mobo. I don't know about doom 3 but on any game I play this card handles aa and af no problem at all. You can also see my benchmark scores on stock speed to give you a good comparison of the improvement you will see since I have about the same stuff as you.

If you wanted new stuff then I would get something along these lines.

mobo:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...128-283&depa=1

processor:
just get a 3000+ or 3200+ with a zalman 7700-cu 120mm cpu fan and overclock it to desire

video card:
x850 xt pe
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...102-502&depa=1
or is you can't afford that then x850xt
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...131-301&depa=1
still can't afford that then x800 xl
