I would say it holds up pretty good. Not as fast but not super slow AnandTech: Intel's Core i7 870 & i5 750, Lynnfield: Harder, Better, Faster Stronger
Note there is a i7 860 thats about $290 but its not in this review.

All lga 1156 processors and boards are made for dual channel. But according to the Anandtech article that makes very little if any difference at all in real world applications.

Believe most would agree i5 and i7 over x4 965. Better architecture.
