The source engine? I see a lot of it in UT2004, HL2, FEAR, and Doom 3. I never really noticed it until I read about it, and when I set image quality to high quality, it looked SO much better, but at the cost of FPS. Yes I have a SATA optical drive. At the time I got it, it was the only one that had 8mb of cache.

I would personally go with the 7800GTX because I prefer nvidia to ATI, but a tech person said at futureshop that my system would bottleneck the sh!t out of it and it wouldn't do any better than the card I have now.
