Windoze Sees DVD Media As CD Media

I have a Lite-On SOHW-812S DVD+-RW drive. Before I put media in the drive, windows says the drive is a DVDRW. When I put in DVD+RW or DVD+R windows changes it's tune and says it's a CD drive and that I put in a blank CD??

Next problem is that when I try to copy any size of file to the DVD media, I get a popup saying that "Windows encountered a problem while copying".

When it actually is a blank CD I have no problems.

I've installed the latest firmware. I've tried DVD-R before: the drive didn't even recognize the media as anything at all! Silly drive.

Any suggestions?

Could be the media you are using. I know ours doesn't like memorex at all. Have to use HP or Staples or a few others but I can't use memorex to save my neck. Liz

I've tried Fujifilm and Sony... oh when will the DVD format wars be over??

Windows doesn't have full support for DVD±RW.
