Hello, I have two Quantum Fireball 20gb hard dirves and after installing one of them into my computer (amd athlon 750mhz w 256 sdram, k7v mobo, rage 128 video) it only detects the hard drive as 11.1 gb. I thought maybe it was a bad hard drives, so I installed the other... I also found that it was detected as 11.1gb. Also, I looked in fdisk in ms-dos.... it is detected there as a 20gb hd. It says I have one primary dos partition as 11.1 gb and a extended dos partion as as 9.7gb. The 11.1 partion is showing up as fat32 format, while the other partition does not show up as any format (it is blank in that column). Could anybody give me any ideas on how to make my missing space usable again? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Mike

so maybe.. when you formatted them the mobo put a default of 11.1g for a partition, meaning the other part hasn't been partitioned.. might want to try formatting it over and check the partition size.. a 20g should read about 19.4g - 19.1g after formatting (i think)

It just looks like the HDD's have been formatted at 11GB.

You need to format them and use their entire size.

DOS partition is usually 8MB, not 9.7GB :)
