Why so hot?

I can't figure out why my CPU is running so hot. It's in my sig, and it's a Clawhammer core. I realize Clawhammers are hotter than Venice or San Diego or something, but mine is 48C as I'm just surfing the internet. I have the stock heatsink and fan w/ Arctic Silver 5. I'm positive I applied the AS5 correctly and everything. I also realize the stock HSF is not that great, but I still think it should be idling cooler than 48C. Any ideas anyone?

What's the temp. of your room? Do you live somewhere warm with no AC? What's the system temp? Temp inside your case?

Maybe the fan is going take it out and see if it spins freely.Or have u dusted out your parts in a while?

Get an aftermarket HS and fan

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking about getting either the Zalman 7700CU or the Thermalright XP-120. Either way I think that'll help the cooling situation.
