why is my system slow?

I just wanted to know what formatting was and why it's a good idea. I pretty much get it, but I don't specifically know how to do it.

You have given me enough of an explanation, I will prod you for step-by-step info when I need it

its really really easy, all you have to do when youre installing a new OS is select which format you want (FAT32 or NTFS, FAT32 is better for gaming, but NTFS is more secure) and then tell it how much of your HDD you want to format, and if you want to make any partitions (for the most part you wont)

hehe i was planning to network the 2 anyway. Got sick of fighting with my little brother over the computer not for sale buddy

and o yeah L0tex, any recommendation on wat fans are quite and what not

These fans from Vantec are the quietest I have come across. 21dBA for an 80mm fan is about as good as it gets.
