Why have they stopped making SCSI CD-RW's?

Went to purchase a new SCSI Writer the other day, only to find that very few suppliers in the UK are selling them any more :(

After many enquiries (here in the UK), I see that the manufacturers are not making them anymore, instead opting for EIDE, USB2 and Firewire products instead.

Amongst a few questions are, "what about if our servers CD-R or CD-RW needs replacing?"

If aAnyone else has got concerns, then use this thread to air them?
 
I think with a DVDRW generation with a proper written standard around the corner there is no point in manufacturers spending extra money on making SCSI CDRW's.

It's a shame I know, but I don't think things are going to change.
