Default Why cant I update my Nvidia driver?

For some reason whenever I try to update my video card driver it says it can’t install because I don’t have a compatible video card on my system. Well I know I do and its there in device manager. So what is the problem? Here is a picture of the error.

What card do you have and what version are you trying to update to?
knowing this will greatly increase your chances of being helped.

I have an Evga 7800GT and im trying to update to the latest driver. When I go to Nvidias driver website they only give me the option of downloading one driver which is the newest. Is there a way I can download newer drivers but not the newest? Because I cant find any sites that offer anything other than the newest one,

did you remove your existing nvidia drive from the control panel and/or driver cleaner? If not, uninstall your old first.. reboot then try to install the latest.

aye, do as above, and also try redownloading the NEW nVidia drivers (same version, but with a fix to the installer .exe)
