why is the 9800xt so much money!!???

ok the 9800xt is really expensive! and it sucks! lol why is it so much money?! u would be lucky to get it scoring 7000 oced in 3dmark03 lol! i mean im not bashing on the 9800xt but, ive seen regular 6800,s score 13000 in 3dmark 03 and there pny 6800 is retail 156$$ i guess everybody is out of there mind for selling the 9800xt for that price! someone please explain... unless the cooler is solid gold i woud never buy the card..

I agree that the 9800XT is a bit spendy, but when it was introduced it was the king of its generation. That could have something to do with it. Oh, and where did you find a 6800 for $156? Cheapest I can find is $185 after a rebate.

Where have you seen regular 6800's scoring 13,000? I have the system you see in my sig and don't get 13,000. Considering how GPU dependent 3DMark03 is, I'd be very curious to see how that happened.

well the 6800,s are on newegg.com but there out of stock . so i cant buy one my self im still waiting lol. but yes they are $156.00 retail with no rebate its a pny regular 6800. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814133114...... oh and i have seen 6800,s score 13k in 3dmark03 with there memory clocked to 900mhz and core 400mhz. but getting clocks that high is very rare seein is memory does very even tho some 6800,s do come with 900mhz memory chips in them and they are just underclocked and 4 pipes are locked and 1 vertex shader is also locked. but if u get lucky u can unlock all pipes and shaders and overclock a 6800 to 900memory 400 core right out of the box. and it willl run perfectly stable
